The term linoleum has been derived from the Latin names of two natural resources, namely, flax (linum) and oil (oleum). Linoleum is a flooring type made from solidified lonoxyn in addition with wood flour or cork dust over a burlap or canvas backing. Pigments may be added to the material used. The finest linoleum floors, known as 'inlaid', are extremely durable; they are made by joining and inlaying solid pieces of linoleum.
Patterned linoleums came in different grades or gauges, and were printed with thinner layers which were more prone to wear and tear. Linoleum flooring provides an excellent support to the feet. It serves as one of the most cost effective flooring options.
